Going on Vacation?
Planning a trip this summer? Remember these simple rules when planning your trip:
– Since most break-ins occur during the day, have a neighbour or friend collect your mail and newspapers daily. Leaving them to pile up may alert a burglar that you are away. Having someone check on the house may thwart their plans.
– If you don’t have an alarm system, consider installing timers on your light switches to turn on randomly while you are away making the house look occupied.
– Most burglars enter the home through an unlocked door or window – check to make sure all entries are locked. Also, if you have a garage door opener, take it with you if you are leaving your car in the driveway while you are away.
– Don’t announce your plans on social media, you don’t know who is reading!
